how to do a thread dump?

i am trying to debug an issue where i run a program or test case from 
jbuilder and the program freezes. i don't mean jbuilder freezes, i mean 
my program or test case. i cannot find a way to take a thread dump of it 
from jbuilder. i can stop it with the red button, or look at any of the 
debugging tabs, but i can't do a thread dump on it.

even if i run with jbuilder and not jbuilderw, the thread dump of 
jbuilder does not show my running program.

i would think there should be another button to do a thread dump of a 
running program. if there is no way, i will have to start things from a 
command prompt which is really inconvenient.
