changing applet's visible components

I have an applet. When it starts, i add (to that applet) 3 labels, 2
textfields and 1 button. When the user clicks on the button, i want to
remove all the components from the applet and add other labels,
textfields and buttons. I wrote the code of that applet, but, when i
click on that button, the applet panel emties, and that all.

I tested an application (extending a frame class), but it behaves the
same. I can see the new content of the applet, but only if i add
"this.setVisible(true);" after changing the content of the applet.
If i do the same thing into that applet (i mean adding the
"this.setVisible(true);" line, nothing happens, i can't see the new
content of the applet.

Does anyone can help me ?
