Howdy. I ran into this problem when I started playing with Linux. Windows uses the two characters (line feed, carriage return, or reverse order, but those two anyways), but most (if not all UNIX variants) just use one. Which is what you are seeing. Notepad is expecting both, but the file you have only has one. WordPad on the other hand is a more updated program and capable to handling the new fangled files and file standards. Don't forget, Notepad hasn't changed much since, oh, Windows 3.0! :> Ok, that's a quick explanation, but does nothing to help you. You have to change the file or your editor. As an already posted suggestion, you can open up the file in WordPad and either use that, or save the file again as a windows text file. Or, you can convince JBuilder to save the file in the proper Windows format you are expecting. I think the previous suggestion is the key. I would look there, not in Notepad, remember, Notepad is just a GUI version of Edlin (hey, easy on the cat calls man! :>>>>). But Notepad is a very simpleton editor (functional, but simple). JB is where you need to look for the settings to change. Good luck I hope you can change it. IMHO, I used TextPad for when I need to edit a file outside of JBuilder. It too is like WordPad, but has more of a developer slant.
