Hi all, I'm trying to find out if there's any sort of standard idiom for handling these. I've found http://www.javaworld.com/javaworld/jw-09-1999/jw-09-timeout.html but it kind of leaves me cold because you have no choice but to leave the connection thread to try and complete regardless of what's happening. This seems like it could lead to quite clunky behaviour if you've got a lot of sockets that are all timing out (say with a hung proxy server, or something). Owen
