I thought if one wanted a server to have a listen socket waiting for
incoming connections, the server had to use a ServerSocket.  It's the
clients that use Socket to open connections to ServerSockets.

That's how I understand and use them, anyway... but that's Java 1.2+, too.
Does Java 1.1 not have ServerSockets?
