I have read plenty of documentation regarding applet to servlet
communication. I'm pretty cool with it. In fact we had similar communication
protocols in an earlier application we wrote.

However it all broke down when we wanted to communicate via a proxy server.
We couldn't work out how to determine what the authentication userid and
password were for the current users session in order to pass them with the
request and have them validated by the proxy server.We didn't want to use a
hard coded userid and password because, well, it isn't much of a security
then is it!

So we are left with the question of how to use Applet to Servlet
communication as discussed in O'Rielley's Java Servlet Programming book when
a proxy server is involved.

Can anyone help?
