Hi

I am looking for a library that implements a filesystem _inside_ a plain
file.  Think of a zip archive, physically it is one file, yet it potentially
contains hundreds of distinct files.

Infact a zip file would be perfect for my needs, the problem is that with
the current implementation of java.util.zip.*, I would have to rewrite the
entire zip file each time a single entry is inserted or updated.  I am not
very keen on the disk/memory thrashing that would cause.

You might be familiar with 'Structured Storage' from the COM/OLE world.
This is another example of what I am looking for, except written in Java of
course.

If anyone knows of such a library, I would be grateful for any pointers.
