Erwin: Not to be obtuse, but are you sure that you are iterating through the array of locales returned by Locale.getAvailableLocales()? If the VM you are running in thinks it is US it'll float that locale to the top of the list of locales (this is from memory) and then have the other 50 or so choices follow in alpha order. I don't know if it is even possible, but if only one locale is there then your OS only knows about that locale or maybe you have downloaded a "English only" JRE. You aren't running on a Sun box, by any chance? On that box the lang and country info comes from system variables that, in a default install, aren't set correctly. That usually affects only the "default" locale, though, and you are free to create your own locale objects and your own NumberFormat objects for a specific locale. -Rich Erwin Olaerts wrote: > > JavaSoft JRE 1.2.2 > > "John McGrath [TeamB]" <ng-b@JPMcGrath.net> schreef in bericht > news:MPG.156147b9617ac84798a1a1@forums.borland.com... > > On Mon, 7 May 2001 15:59:38 +0200, Erwin Olaerts wrote: > > > > > the only Locales I get from Locale.getAvailableLocales() > > > are the one with country "" and language "en" and country > > > "US" and language "en". > > > > What version of the JDK/JRE are you running under?
