I would direct you first to read up on the Java Activation Framework (JAF). It's a full fledged API from Sun (www.javasoft.com). I'm not sure if it accomplishes what you wish. Secondly, the quick and dirty technique, is to launch the program with exec(). If your program supports the passing of a "file to open" you can include that parameter in the exec() call. jim Hasan Tuncay <htuncay@_NOSPAM_quoka.com> wrote in message news:38E057D9.ECBA47E9@_NOSPAM_quoka.com... > Hello, > > does somebody know, how I can tell the OS with Java, to open a file with > > the according program. > > Like this: > > Wan't to tell MacOS to open a Photoshop Dokument with Photoshop 5.5. > Or a QuarkXPress Dokument with the QuarkXPress Application. > -- > > Hasan Tuncay > IT-Developer > Quoka AG - Germany > > htuncay@_NOSPAM_quoka.com > www.quoka.com > > PS.
