FileDialog prompt for overwrite

I would like to avoid having the FileDialog component prompt to make
sure the user wants to overwrite a file if the file is the file I am
currently using. Is there anyway to do this? I have attempted to do a
setPath() and a setFile() with the path and file names respectively, but
this doesn't seem to work. Any ideas? I am beginning to think that I
will have to play with the code in the FileDialog class itself, but I
was hoping for an easier way.
