Hi All,
Could some one give me a suggestion to correct my delima.
I have an Applet that has scrolling text information that it has
received from a file. Well this file can change at anytime. Therefore, I
have a timer thread that does nothing but sleep for a preset time and
when it wakes it goes out and rereads this file. There lies my problem.
Instead of rereading the new file it rereads the cached file. When I
run it in JBuilder's IDE everything is great, but once deployed on the
web it just keeps rereading the cached file. I am sure of this because I
modified the file multiple times on the web while my browser is
displaying the Applet and no change occurrs. However, when I do the same
changes to the file when running in JBuilder's IDE it reads the modified
file.
This is the way I set up my connection.
URL u1 = new URL(this.getCodeBase(),"TODAYS.WND");
DataIn = new BufferedReader(new
InputStreamReader(u1.openStream()));
// Read the file in and extract information required
DataIn.close();
I have read that caching of input file is controlled by the protocol
in the URLConnection. I would like to know how I can control whether to
cache or not.
Thanks,
Rob
