In the mouse released event do;

if (e.isPopUpTrigger()) e.consume();

this removes the default menu.

Going on from this, does anybody know how to add items to the default
menu or pass through selections to it.  My problem was that I wan't
copy, paste and some of my own.  I ended up writing the paste function
myself when all I wanted to do was pass my paste selection to the
default paste.
