I have existing Java code that uses a TCP connection with the DataInputStream and PrintStream as the input and output mechanisms, repsectively. When I tried to compile under JDK 1.1.2, I found out that these are both deprecated. When I switched to the new classes that the JDK documentation suggested for replacing the deprecated ones, the server could not communicate with the client, and vice versa, though they connected successfully. Since then I've tried other classes with the same problem. For now I'm keeping the deprecated classes in the code, so that it works, but I should switch to newer classes as soon as possible. Can anyone suggest a class that would work, that they've already had success with? Thanks! John
