start Dos-Program from Java-Application

Hey,

i've an Application that starts external programs (in Windws 95).
If i try to start a Windows-Application: it runs :-)
If i try to start a Dos-Application: nothing happens. No exception.
Nothing :-(

Does anyone know the Problem?
(I start the progs via the Runtime.exec()-method)
