one java app to another

Hi there,

I'm wondering if it is possible to create a Java application that can
launch other Java applications without having to type "javaw
/somedirectory/some_subdirectory/myapp" everytime in the terminal
window?

For instance, I'm getting to learn a bit about Linux and they have a
command called "service". This command is used in a terminal window to
start and stop applications from running.

Example: [root@localhost.localdomain]# service httpd start

My thought was to have a Java application called "jservice" that did the
same thing only dedicated to starting and stopping Java applications on
the computer. The "jservice" application could be tied to a database
which kept record of all Java applications on the computer and their
absolute path name for launching purposes.

Just want to tweek your brains a bit to see what you think of this idea?
What say you? Any other ideas or comments welcome.

Alan
