I want to write my own fill patterns for polygons etc. I think I must implement the java.awt.Paint interface. But I can't find very much information how to implement the Paint interface correctly. Are there any tutorials or sample classes which implement custom fill patterns? Or are there any free fill patterns? Thanks in advance.

You could try the ones that are included in the JRE: TexturePaint (using images) and GradientPaint (for color transitions). Even old java.awt.Color has been retrofitted into being a single-color Paint.
