Check out javax.swing.JFileChooser in the online help. There's a link there with a tutorial. -- Check out our latest white papers at http://www.datadevelopment.com/papers/index.html BladeNET Scores With Borland Enterprise Tools Team Development with JBuilder and Borland Enterprise Server Dolphin Data Development Ltd. http://www.datadevelopment.com/ "Boris Condarco" <bcondarco@sbef.gov.bo> wrote in message news:3ecba61d@newsgroups.borland.com... > Hi, > > I am writing an applet to upload files to my server, so, i would like to use > a window like the FileDialog to choose files, is there any class or > component to do so? > > I would really appreciate any susggestion and related documentation or a > little piece of code...! > > Thanks in advance... > > Boris. > >

kevin,
I've tried JFileChooser, it works fine when i execute the applet with
Jbuilder, but, when i load the page with IE6.0 the FileChooser does'nt
display. I'm using the following code:
void jButton1_actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) {
JFileChooser chooser = new JFileChooser();
// Note: source for ExampleFileFilter can be found in FileChooserDemo,
// under the demo/jfc directory in the Java 2 SDK, Standard Edition.
int returnVal = chooser.showOpenDialog(null);
if(returnVal == JFileChooser.APPROVE_OPTION) {
System.out.println("You chose to open this file: " +
chooser.getSelectedFile().getName());
}
}
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance...

JFileChooser needs access to the file system, but that access is restricted
if your applet isn't signed. If you look at the Java Console, you'll
probably see a security exception stack trace. Details on how to sign
applets may be found at:
