Using regexp 1.2 with Jbuilder 5
#862

Hi,
I would like to use regexp 1.2 package with JBuilder 5; I have
downloaded it, installed it per directions on jakarta.apache.org and
have the jar file's directory in my class path. However, it does not
get recognized in my JBuilder editor (I am working on a Web App with
servlets and jsp's). Is there a way to get it into the editor's
"system" so I can use coding aids like autocomplete? Barring that, how
do I get the compiler to know where it is? Must I put the jar file
somewhere else?

Thanks for any assistance!
Nick

Put the Jar on the classpath, not its path, and then all should work.
FYI, you may find this process a bit more maintainable if you use
JBuilder's utility for defining libraries (stops you getting a classpath
bloated with every library you've ever used for all your projects, for
example).

Jar files are, for these purposes, sort of mini file systems which is
why the Jar itself needs to be on the cp, as oppossed to its dir.

Thanks Owen!
That did the trick-- I used your second suggestion. Thanks, too, for the
perspective on the .jar "file system." It helps make it a lot clearer. :)

Best,
Nick

HOWEVER, your second suggestion did the trick

Well, it does the same thing in essence - JB just adds whatever required
libs you have to the classpath at compile / run time, just tidier is all
:)

Oops, that P.S. was from my first attempt, when just changing the CLASSPATH
didn't work - until I realized I left off the '.jar'! :o Thanks again!
