I just upgraded to NT 4.0 to improve debugging in JBuilder and noticed some annoying differences when I ran my app. Now I know that if you right 100% pure java then your app will (probably) work first time but, who knows the language well enough to do this ? The repaint of components in NT seemed to be much more selective which required me to invalidate whole trees of components so they were all repainted. I also noticed that using SimpleDateFormat, the locale needs setting or else it defaults to -8 hours GMT (west coast US?). What is the solution to these differences on platforms, NT must be far more similar to 95 than to all the UNIX flavours. I did a pure java check recently and none of the problem areas I found were highlighted during the tests. Has anyone found a solution ? Nathan Kirkham Result 2000 Plc
