LAUNCHING an app from java

For the life of me I can't find a java-only way to launch an application
based on
the file type. I'm running Jbuilder on winNT. Invariably, I end up
either hardcoding a path name to calling a .EXE.

For example, I'm trying to send an HTML to the default browser.
I don't want to call "cmd /C", "cmd32", or the actual path to the
browser.

I guess I'm looking for a file launcher class.

what to do?
thx
