Hello -

I have become interested in Java for writting applications, not applets that
run in browsers. When you ask how many operating systems are there? Well,
my company supports a product that runs on Windows as well as HP Unix, IBM
AIX, and Sun Solaris. Given that our product has a GUI component to it Java
could solve the cross-platform GUI problem.

Also, if you look at the major changes in 1.1 and 1.2 they are really geared
towards applications more than applets. The question really becomes will
Java survive as a main stream developement language.
