I can't seem to get server-side I/O (reading and writing to files at the
location the applet originated) to work.  Can someone supply a short example
of something that does work?  All I need are short code samples, not entire
applets.

What I have works in AppletViewer, but not from any of the browsers.  The
browser's
(IE and NS) just seem to ignore the code.  And all I'm doing right now is
attempting
some server-side reads.  Other than this problem, everything else works
fine.
