Hello,
 I'm trying to get an APPLET that I created with Jbuilder to work with the
DataGateway
jdbc driver, it works within MSIE 4.0 but not in Netscape 4.03 with the JDK
1.1 patch, or Hotjava
for that matter.
Below is a list of suggestions that I have tried to get it to work:
1.
Someone mentioned that I suggest replace
    Class.forName("borland.jdbc.Broker.RemoteDriver");
with
    borland.jdbc.Broker.RemoteDriver driver = new
borland.jdbc.Broker.RemoteDriver();
This forces the Jbuilder Deployment wizard to add the class to the Jar/Zip
file and it forces
the browser to instantiate the Driver. This made my applet work in MSIE 4.0

2.
This is another suggestion I recieved:
    Properties props = new Properties();
    props.put("user", "user");
    props.put("password", "password");
    props.put("database", "databasename");
    Class.forName("borland.jdbc.Broker.RemoteDriver");
    conn =
DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:BorlandBroker://machineipaddress/BDEDSN",
props)

This didn't work either.

3.
The last thing I tried was:
    DriverManager.registerDriver(new borland.jdbc.Broker.RemoteDriver());
    mssql = new
Database(DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:BorlandBroker://machineipaddress/
BDEDSN", "username","password"));

I keep getting exceptions from Netscape or Hotjava that mention
checkpropsaccess,
or AppletSecurityException. The last error I recieved is listed below:

Netscape Communications Corporation -- Java 1.1.2

I suspect that the borland classes "UserNamePasswordDialog" and
"borland/jdbc/Broker/ResultSetMetaData" are trying to check system
properties, but
apparently in Netscape and in HotJava that raises a security exception.
Any ideas would be helpfull.
Thanks
