I've been experimenting with upgrading JBuilder to 1.1.4 or later. What I've been doing is modifying the classes.zip file (in JBuilder\java\lib), replacing some of the .class files with newer versions of the same. My success has been limited. Sometimes JBuilder crashes on launch with a cryptic message. At best, JBuilder launches, and more-or-less runs, but eventually crashes in javaw when running/debugging the target application. One thing I noticed about Borland's classes.zip file is that it contains, in addition to the usual .class files, several .dependency files, of mysterious purpose and content. Since I am not updating these, they are most likely out of sync. What I would like to see from Borland is a classes.zip upgrade tool which imports selected new classes or an entire new classes.zip from a new JDK. This would allow users to incorporate their favorite bug fixes from JavaSoft. Of course, this won't work if Borland is actually modifying the classes in the JDK, which I hope is not the case.
