You are talking about some highly platform-specific behaviors.  It may be
possible to implement this in some environments, but I would wager that it
would be impossible in some.  Without knowing what operating system(s) you
are targeting, it is hard to go beyond that.  In any case, it is
definitely not something that would be possible using standard Java APIs.
