Problem with mouse events

Has anyone come across a problem where a Swing application deployed
under JDK1.1.6 seems to be ignoring mouse clicks.

Sometimes it requires 5 or 6 clicks before a button wil respond, the
length of time the the mouse button is held down seems to make some
difference. This happens on both W95 and Solaris.

All seems to work ok when the application is run within JBuilder 2
