Well, I've tried it and it works, just need to use the mouseEntered and 
mouseExited methods to resize the panel.

Only problem I can foresee is if you're editing a jText and you leave the 
panel before pressing enter, your program may not have access to the new 
value, is that correct? Is there someway to force the enter?
