I have a program that I run using the following syntax
java -jar myprog.jar

if I execute it using the root account it runs ok, if I use another user account I get an exception in thread main java.lang. noClassDefFound, what could be causing this?

Root may have a different default classpath. Root may be using a
completely different JRE. Run "java -version" from both to see if you
are pointed at the same JRE. Check the CLASSPATH environment variable
for both users to see where they differ.

but first..... <drumroll> check if the user can read the jar at all and that
the path to it is accessible to the user.
