Hi, I have the following problem. I have a machine with Mandrake 10.1 and I am working on a local net. I have installed JBoss and I created a simple EJB, then I created a simple client to access to my EJB. All is working if I work on the same machine but if I run my client on another machine the connection is refused. I suppose it is a problem of connection ports. How can I open the port on my linux machine (I am not very expert on linux)? Many thanks and bye, Sandro

You probably have your firewall running, which is going to block ports you do not specifically open. Therefore you have two choices: (1) Open these ports using a configuration tool (I would recommend getting Webmin [www.webmin.com] for the newbie). (2) Manually open the ports (using IPTables or IPChains, whichever Mandrake is using). This is going to require familiarity with Firewalls. (3) Turn off the Firewall entirely. Depending upon what firewall you are using, this can be done through ps -ef |grep firewall, find the pid (Process ID), and use kill -9 <pid>
