unable to run Jbuilder2005 on RHEL 3 Update 4

I've installed JB2005 on my RHEL 3 box with no problems.   However, if I run 
jbuilder I get the following error:

waho{one}% echo $LD_LIBRARY_PATH
:/usr/kerberos/lib:/usr/X11R6/lib:/usr/lib/qt-3.1/lib:/usr/lib/sane:/usr/lib/mysql:/ow_nc/lib:/oracle8/OraHome1/lib:/lib
waho{one}%  ./jbuilder

libgcc_s.so.1 must be installed for pthread_cancel to work


waho{one}% ls -la /lib/libgcc_s.so.1
lrwxrwxrwx    1 root     root           28 Aug 14  2004 
/lib/libgcc_s.so.1 -> libgcc_s-3.2.3-20040701.so.1*


But, if I run :

./jbuilder -verbose

JBuilder2005 lauches with no apparent problems.

Any ideas ?
