Query Trouble

I am doing this query which involves a condition that is checking to see if
a date field in my table is blank. In the table it is set to a date field.
I have tried many different things to try and get it but none of them work.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

What is the exact SQL statement you were using? Which part of the operation
is not working? Filtering based on NULL dates? Setting the field's value?
In what way is this not working? Error? No error, but incorrect behavior?

By query, do you mean anm local SQL expression?
An executeSQL() expression?
A string used in the SQL property of a query object?
A file created by the SQL designer?
Something else?

Sorry for not being specific enough. I have been working in both the
ISQL(part of SQL Server) and this statement below works, but using this in
Vdbase, this doesn't work. I am building my SQL statement in the SQL
property of the query object. My SQL statement goes like this:

select * from "...\specserve.dbf" where compldate = Null

except I am getting an error in the where clause.

In standard SQL, one uses the IS NULL predicate to check a column against a
NULL value. Try this variation:

  SELECT *
  FROM "...\specserve.dbf"
  WHERE compldate IS NULL

The IS NULL predicate can also be used with the NOT operator.

  SELECT *
  FROM "...\specserve.dbf"
  WHERE compldate IS NOT NULL

That code worked great Steve. Thankyou very much.
