Independence of the data source type with BDE

Dear BDE experts,

I'm trying to write SW with external data source descriptions.
Making correct SQL statements is SW (not user) job.
So, SW must be as much as possible SQL dialects independent.

My steps:
 - I try to use DbiGetProp(..., dbQUOTECHAR...) to be SQL dialects
independent
 - when I was Ok with read queries (based on DbiQExecDirect), I was enforced
   to use DbiQAlloc-DbiSetProp(hStmt, stmtLIVENESS,
wantLIVE)-DbiQPrepare-DbiQExec chain
   to make updateable cursors
 - but all my efforts with SQL dialects was waste -> after DbiSetProp(hStmt,
stmtLIVENESS, wantLIVE)
DbiQPrepare must be conformed with BDE local SQL

I think that "Independence of the data source type with BDE" is a common and
valuable item.
The guide about this will be very useful. Any references/suggestions will be
appreciated.

Thanks,
Semen

All of this sounds very much like Delphi -- you need to be asking
these questions in the Delphi newsgroups, not the Visual dBASE
newsgroups.
