I can't say as I have. Then again, some people engage in bashing for the

I'm not quite sure what your meaning is here; anyway, the point is that if
some people view #2 as an "excuse" to bash gays isn't #2's fault, it's the
fault of the people doing the bashing. That's like saying Bob couldn't help
but stab Bill, after all, lots of places sell knives. How can he resist?
Besides, #2 doesn't condone violent attacks on gays.
