regarding my choice, the Notorius Byrd Brothers, I found this rave on

Five stars is not enough for this album.
This album deserves comparison to Sgt. Pepper, Beggars Banquet, Pet
Sounds and the other crowning achievements of that era, but, in my
view, is the best of them. I certainly continue to listen to it more
than the others (Pet Sounds is a close second). The majestic beauty and
aural impact of this record is truly breath-taking, although I wonder
how much a new listener coming to it today will appreciate all its
splendors. In regard to the last hidden track, eavesdropping on a band
fight, I have a different view than other commenters. I think it is
truly amazing, the most authentic document we have of a band (any band)
literally falling apart, and I thank the powers that be (Roger
McGuinn?) for having the integrity to release this raw, brutal and sad
coda to the most productive era of one of the great (okay, the
greatest, if you must know) bands of the 60s.
