It's probably much more difficult to get rid of a tenured prof than a foot-
ball coach.
cr> How many "probably's" is that Gary?
Two.
cr> You appear to be stating opinions without any knowledge to support them
whatsoever. Have you actually researched the process for firing a tenured
prof?
Nope, I haven't. Considering, however, that achieving tenure is considered
the equivalent of lifetime employment, and *the* goal of many professors, I
believe my statement to be accurate. Tenured profs don't lose tenure by be-
ing fired; they lose it by dying or retiring.
cr> Do you have any knowledge yourself of BM's schedule?
Given that the biggest complaint about professors is that they foist off
teaching onto TAs and the like (so they have more time chasing grants and
contemplating their navels), and McCartney doesn't quite have that kind of
luxury, I'd guess he spends more time coaching than they do teaching.
cr> When you have real opinions and not just groundless assertions to make, I
will hear your arguments. Until then, it is just so much sound and fury,
signifying nothing.
I simply find it amusing that so many CUers and Boulderians dislike McCart-
ney (for a whole slew of reasons[*]) that any defense of his presence on
the CU campus and as a resident of Boulder is met with so much indignation.
He's hardly the most "dangerous" person in Boulder, you know.
[*] - He gets paid too much, CU football is a corruption of the university,
he's a Christian, he has the audacity to state his beliefs when he ought to
be ashamed of them, and so on...
