Take a look at California's Next Century 2.0 by Marcus Ruiz Evans...just picked up by a publisher and with a new major endorsement (below)

It really is the only plan I've seen to get CA out of the mess it's in.

An original vision for California, far-fetched and utopian, but the author raises points worth thinking about. We all know that our state doesn't work very well, so somebody ought to think about WHY it isn't working and offer some ideas to at least get the debate going. That is what Mr. Ruiz Evans does with some very clever and original ideas that are totally impractical, but so what? Something has to be done so why not start by being provocative? We are big and rich enough to be an independent state. Here are some ideas based on good research and much imagination why we should actually become one.
