It's certainly more expensive than what we have now. Not to say that it's undoable. Also, for everyone to have their own NG compressor is probably not optimal. If rapid NG compressors were available at every service station things would be better, but there's a big chicken and egg problem. >Do you know of any other country using this technology, I heard LA was going >to start something similar but using alcohol/methanol motors? I don't think NG is big anywhere. Fuelmaker is actually a Canadian company, which is certainly associated with Canada's large NG resources. >Getting back to FuelMaker Model C3, is it a gas/electricity motor? >In other words to refill the tank at night or whenever it requires electricity? Sounds like I need to be more descriptive. The C3 is a device to fill the 3000 PSI tanks. NG is delivered by PG&E at a few PSI (maybe 15?) and a lot of energy (that 2 kw/hour time 8 hours) is used just to STORE the fuel. The C3 is not a motor which goes in your car, that's something else entirely. Whereas with gasoline, you just pour it in the fuel tank, with NG, you need a $3,000 machine, 16 KWH, and all night to fill the tank. Faster compressors are certainly a lot more expensive. >So is not just matter of conecting valves to the tank and fill it up? No, not at 3000 PSI. >Also how dangeorus are these motors, or better yet how safe are they? >Specially on a stop and go and congested traffic routes for a big city. The compressor (C3) is a device which handles a highly flammable gas at high pressures using lots of electricity. It scares me! The motor for your car can be your existing gasoline motor, you just need a special carburator. The NG tanks, on the other hand, are a lot like a bomb in terms of the energy in them. The gasoline explosions you see in the movies are mostly unrealistic but with NG I wouldn't be at all surprised. -- This posting is purely a personal opinion. "Is the Am386 compatible? Would Intel keep it a secret if it weren't?"
