Ok, I am very interested in owning an electric car NOW. You've given alot of good reasons for doing and why your particular choice of a car was a good one. But what's the catch? In particular, electric car batteries must be replaced every year or two and that is expensive. How often must your bateries be replaced and what will it cost? I am considering waiting for a year or so before buying because there seems to be alot of activity by the major car companies and smaller companies. For example, I have contacts at AeroVironment the company that built GM's Sunracer. They have a large ongoing program funded by GM and I presume something will come of it before to long. So maybe it's to early to just into a $20,000 investment.
