What is the proper way to recycle or dispose of used automobile coolant? This is the sweet green ethylene glycol stuff that is extremely common. I know that it is toxic to animals and should not be dumped in the sewers (which just flow to the bay), but that is what everyone seems to do with it. The local recycling centers, city (contract) recyclers, and service stations that accept used motor oil for recycling just scratch their heads and say "I dunno, we don't take that stuff" when asked about radiator fluid. It is puzzling to me, since there must be well over a million gallons/year of this stuff being dumped in the Bay Area. Maybe UV or bacteria break it down in a fairly short time (wishful thinking)? -- ********************************************************************** # David Dalton dalton@cup.hp.com 408/447-7133 # # # # If anything can go will, it wrong. # **********************************************************************
