As I understand it, after the current round of spraying they are planning to
switch over to sterile flies to control the problem.  I believe there
are two reasons this is not being done now (this is based on some stuff I
heard on the radio, so if anyone has better information, please provide it).
First, there is an insufficient supply of sterile flies available.  This should
be taken care of in the next few months.  Second, there has to be a complete
switch-over when the sterile fly approach starts (for obvious reasons) and
they want to wipe out the current problem completely before starting the
new fly control program.

Nor can I.  If it works well, it seems like the best approach.  At least 
they won't be spraying syrup all over everything.
