California Gunners,
I just picked up a 380 ACP 1911 made by Stoeger Industries last
night. My Uncle needed $50 so I bought from him so he could a part for
his old truck. He told me it works, and his word is very trustworthy.
I did not buy it for any reason (I just bought it to help out a family
member), but after looking it over and stripping it, it doesn't look
like it is in bad shape at all.
It says Stoeger Industries on the slide, but I read on a website
that Stoeger at one point imported several Llama firearms and only put
the name Stoeger on the weapon. It seems to be the exact dimensions of
the Llama Minimax .380 (basically a Colt Officer Clone in 380 ACP).
Anyone know if this is correct, or not?
My question is (and the problems with the gun) is the grip safety
works "sometimes" (it will work correctly all the time if you pull it
back from the frame), I believe the Sear Spring needs to be replaced
(could I be correct in this assumption?), the grip safety does not seem
to have any tension to push out properly.
The other problem is that the stainless steel slide and frame are a
little scratched up, is there anything that I can use on stainless to
clean it up? That and some nasty grips and no magazine (I'll just get
both from Llama online, good idea?).
I think it would be a nice little toy to keep me busy while I fix it
up, I love a challenge. I figure I can give it to my nephew or my
brother in law once it is all fixed up and working properly. Anyone
have any idea what it would fetch at a gun show once I fix it up (I'm in
Mesa, AZ). Thanks everyone.
