Have you ever wondered why the spin doctors have been very busy in every segment of our society? That very possibly the quest for greater profits is now litterally out of control? Consider this, evidently some former NSA or CIA types are now working for the utilites companies. Quietly masked as a safety shutdown, the San Onofre power plant was taken off line in June 2000. Up to this point in time the state of California was a electrical power exporter to surrounding states. Now comes the energy crunch, and of course with San Onofre off line permanently, California now has to import electrical power. Currently the residents of California are being charged 3.5 cents per kilowat hour, and the utilities are claiming that it costs them 35.0 cents to provide this energy to the consumers. The PUC, public utilities commission, has granted the utilities companies a rate increase, of 9% to residential users and 7 - 15% for volume users. This of course is totally unacceptable for Edison and they are now in default on loans, claiming they will be forced into bankruptcy without raising the rates to the 35 cent level. Any price increase will be devistating. In southern California, So. Cal Edison is charging us currently $198.00 a month for electricity, last summer the bill was $96.00. If someone is unfortunate enough to have San Diego Gas and Electric as their provider, then they are currently paying $400.00 for the same amount of energy. This all came about by deregulation of the power industry. Consider the price of gasoline for a moment. In Southern California premium gasoline as of this writing is $1.69 per gallon (Chevron, Mobil, ARCO and Texaco) as an overall average. While on a trip to Arizona, New Mexico and Texas, we found the price per gallon to be $1.39 for the same identical fuel within the last ten days. The point I am drawing is simply this, in basic misinformation 101, your attention is always drawn to the right hand of business or government, while the left hand is busy conducting business as usual at the sake of the consumer. This also applies to elected officals such as William Jefferson Clinton, the new teflon don, and gun control advocates. They tell you one thing and conduct their agenda in secret. With firearms, if you don't have them all registered so the government can take them, then you are listed as a felon in possession of contraband. Believe it was Ben Franklin that stated: "Fear the government that fears the people and their right to keep and bear arms", as appropriate when this country was founded as it is today. Bear
