--------------3771CA3483D2D1A8A00C086F Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit We stopped the gun grabbers in September, but its time to fight back again. Contact your state assembly-person and senator now and urge him/her to oppose ANY new gun legislation and Assemblyman Shelley's proposed anti-freedom, anti-second amendment, anti-self-defense efforts. Below is the text of a letter being distributed to the legislators in Sacramento in anticipation of the next legislative session. Clearly Assemblyman Shelley is already planning to make this a priority. Beyond the usual distortions and half-truths, nearly every paragraph contains at least one outright lie. Let no one assume that since we stopped this bill this past year that we will automatically be able to stop it next year. Election day is coming... "No government is better than our government" To: Members of the Legislature From: Assemblymember Kevin Shelley Re: Co-Author request for Hand Gun Licensing & Registration Legislation Date: October 17, 2000 Gun violence continues to be a disturbing and worrisome threat within many of our communities. Recent organized demonstrations and opinion polls reveal that enactment of a gun licensing and registration program is a high public priority. For example, this year's Million Mom March turned out over 750,000 mothers who marched in Washington D.C. and 73 other cities to demand gun control reforms. Organizers of the march cite that ten children die from gun violence everyday in this country. Polls indicate the country's strong leanings toward greater gun controls. According to a Gallup/CNN poll conducted last year, 79% of those polled told Gallup interviewers they would favor the registration of all firearms. Gun licensing and registration has a proven track record to increase law enforcement's ability to solve crimes quicker and rid our streets of illegal weapons. By giving state and local law enforcement the tools to track illegal weapon sales and the authority to require certain minimum gun use safety standards for gun owners, we will get closer to controlling gun violence in communities. Many other states already have gun licensing and registration systems in place. California must join this national effort to prevent gun violence in schools and on the streets in our communities by developing its own system. I invite you to join me in co-authoring this important piece of legislation If you have any questions, please contact my Legislative Director at 319-2012. * The results are based on telephone interviews with a randomly selected national sample of 1,022 adults, 18 years and older, conducted June 11-13, 1999 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Yes, I want to be a co-author on your proposed gun licensing legislation. _________________________ __________________________ Member Name Signature --------------3771CA3483D2D1A8A00C086F Content-Type: text/html; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit
We stopped the gun grabbers in September, but its time to fight back again.
Contact your state assembly-person and senator now and urge him/her to oppose ANY new gun legislation and Assemblyman Shelley's proposed anti-freedom, anti-second amendment, anti-self-defense efforts.

Below is the text of a letter being distributed to the legislators in Sacramento in anticipation of the
next legislative session.
