361,000 more people quit looking for work last month. 23.1 million Americans are unemployed, underemployed or have given up looking. The average length of unemployment has gone from 19.8 weeks to 39.2 weeks. 97.3 million Americans now qualify as "low income" and another 49.1 million are in poverty. Things have gotten seriously worse, as they continue to gloss these things over with the cooked unemployment figures. The U-3 is the figure the politicians use to make them look better. That's now at 8.1%. But the U-6 is closer to the real truth, now at 14.7%. "We are spending more money than we have ever spent before and it does not work.... We have never made good on our promises.... I say after eight years of this administration we have just as much unemployment as when we started... and an enormous debt to boot." - Henry Morgenthau, who served as Roosevelt's treasury secretary during FDR's administration.
