I have bought two things from uBid. Like you, one was advertised as new and turned out to be refurbished. The other was of extremely poor quality. Also, I had a very difficult time trying to get a refund for the product and ended up having to write a letter to their Customer Service dept. Finally, after a month of phone calls, I received a credit. I urge everyone not to use uBid. It is a place where companies dump substandard products on an unsuspecting public.
