Drivers licenses for illegals? - support Joe Guzzardi for Governor

Fellow Californians:

The people of California deserve to hear about ALL of the issues
affecting our state. Virtually every aspect of our life is affected by
illegal immigration: schools, hospitals, jobs and urban sprawl. And
while it is true that California has many other woes, the number one
concern among citizens is "What are we going to do about illegal
immigration?"

In this election, we need a comprehensive and common sense
discussion about ALL of California's challenges: sprawl, congestion,
taxes, fiscal insolvency, environmental degradation, mass immigration,
education, declining quality of life, crime, loss of farmland, job
displacement... and more.

Although immigration is often considered to be a federal issue,
during the last two years state governments have become increasingly
active in legislation designed to provide benefits for illegal aliens.

One of the most insidious results of mass illegal immigration is the
expanded power and influence of California's Latino Caucus. This group
does not work for the common good of California or even for
California's Latino citizens. Rather, it lobbies primarily on behalf
of the narrow interests of illegal aliens and of increasing its own
power. It has been allowed by the governor and legislative leaders to
push through measure after measure that hurt the common workers and
taxpayers of California, and ironically disproportionately harm legal
Latino workers who are more likely to see their wages depressed by
continuing illegal immigration. Among other actions, members of the
Latino Caucus have introduced bills to grant in-state tuition to
illegal alien children, to have foreign government identification
cards held by illegal aliens accepted across California and to issue
driver's licenses to illegal aliens.

Because these bills affect either your personal safety and/or your
pocketbook, they should be voted on in a general election. But they
are not. Bills drafted to exclusively cater to the illegal alien
population of California are muscled through the Assembly and
presented to Governor Davis for his signature or veto.

This procedure represents an erosion of the democratic process and
silences your voice in California's future.

Governor Davis has used the power of his signature to solicit votes
from special interest groups.

Favors should not be traded for votes. As Governor, Joe Guzzardi
will work on behalf of what is good for all Californians.
