EUREKA CA -- As the second in a series of seminars introducing the newest contemplative arts phenomenon, Metaphors For Life is bringing its "7 Mysteries in 7 Cities" seminar to San Francisco's Clarion Hotel at SFO on June 12th, 2004. The 7 Mysteries seminars explore the patterns of seven as encountered throughout time and regardless of culture. With the application of "metaphoric" sight, these sets of seven reveal a path of personal evolution that can be used in meditations, contemplations, and prayers. The 7 Mysteries seminars are launching Rev. Dr. Alesia Matson's new book, entitled "7 Mysteries: Contemplative Arts for the Modern Mystic." Drawing from a multiplicity of sources, Dr. Matson demonstrates how the number seven, as a set delimiter, is a signal for a path of transcendence which is encoded in the set itself. When asked about the applicability of this concept, Dr. Matson said: "I have yet to find a set of seven things which didn't have this path of transformation embedded in it, and I've looked at over a hundred. Even the silliest sets imagineable contain it -- the Seven Castaways on Gilligan's Island, for instance. It's there. And Snow White's Seven Dwarves. It's there. You just have to know how to look. And that's part of what I teach in the book and the seminars." The seminars begin in Seattle WA and are being held in seven cities across the U.S. with Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta and Denver following San Francisco in the schedule. In "The Grail Cup," MFL's bi-weekly newsletter, Dr. Matson has promised to keep a journal of her seven cities' tour to explore the patterns of seven humans create for themselves. "The sevens I talk about in the book are almost archetypal in their significance. In keeping a journal for the seven cities' tour, I'll be looking at a conscious attempt to create a path of personal transformation using seven. It's very exciting!" The "7 Mysteries in 7 Cities" seminars are held all day on Saturdays and involve the participants in a direct experience of their personal evolution. They cover a wide variety of topics relevant to the contemplative arts, such as universal archetypes, symbolic or metaphoric sight, the signature of divine consciousness, overcoming resistance, the differing types of meditative injunctions, and much more. "The seminars are a live-time expansion of the material in the book," Dr. Matson said. "Those who attend get a crash-course in the contemplative arts -- and get to have some fun with it all, too. I'm looking forward to opening these [seminars] up to bigger audiences. The reactions so far have been overwhelmingly positive." Dr. Matson is one of the co-founders of Metaphors For Life, an independent ministry of Church of the New Renaissance. Metaphors For Life provides a wide variety of seminars and products for spiritual education, self-improvement, and holistic health.
