Agricultural water supply can survive some "screwing up" - some changes
are fine and in fact called for. Calif. farmers feel
they have some God-given right to as much water as they want for essentially
free. Well, I don't buy it. It wouldn't
be the end of the world if we didn't grow rice in the freakin' desert.
Israel's agriculture (very similar climate to Calif) runs efficiently
on about half the water (per unit blah blah blah) because they use better
more water conservative irrigation methods. Calif. farmers could do that too
but they never will as long as they have as much damn water as they want for
nothing.

Also, "some flat water behind a dam" doesn't exist in a vaccuum - it means
destroying rivers and ecosystems and riparian vegetation and natural
beauty etc.etc.etc. Don't act like reservoirs are just nothing.
