...Another searing Pasadena afternoon, you need a break from staring at
your terminal, so you pop over to the pool, pay $0.25 for a towel, and take
a cool, refreshing... Hey, wait, you didn't take a swimsuit to work, you're
out of luck!  Back to work, bozo! (*)

I'd like to convince the Athletic Director to post some swimsuit-optional
hours at the pool (e.g. 12-1 each day?); is anyone else interested?  (e.g.
any European women tired of having to wear tops?)  Email me and I'll
collect suggestions and signatures.  Of course you could still wear a suit
if you wanted, but those who can't stand the sight of (*gasp*) top-free or
nude folks would have to avoid these times.

I'm told many pools (e.g. MIT, YMCA's) were once nudity-mandatory, back in
the days when they were single-sex (something to do with lint in the
filters).  Berkeley has 2 permanent clothing-optional sundecks (1 coed, 1
female only), but no swimming.  Anyone know what other schools do?

(*) Actually it's still useful to have a padlock around so your wallet
won't get stolen.  Maybe we can get padlock loans, too, as at Berkeley.

There was enough interest (or at least moral support!) in my previous
article on swimsuit-optional hours at the Caltech pool that I wrote a
simple petition, the ASCII file below.  If you (and any friends) agree,
I would appreciate it if you would print it out, write in your name,
signature, etc., and mail it to me at:

	Pasadena, CA 91125
(Campus mail will do for most of you.)  Thanks, and I'll let you know what
happens!

We, the undersigned members of the Caltech community, support and request
swimsuit-optional hours and padlock rentals at the Brown Center pool.
These changes would make it easier for people to drop into the Center and
enjoy a recreational swim without carrying equipment around all day or
permanently renting a locker.
