City Council press release. This may or may not also apply to districts other than the city, I don't have any further information. REFERENDUM ONLY POSTAL VOTE REQUEST FORMS DELIVERED TO SOME CAMBRIDGE RESIDENTS Twenty-eight thousand Cambridge residents may receive a form entitled 'Application to vote in the referendum by post', that has been sent by a referendum campaign group. This form has not been sent by or on behalf of Cambridge City Council. The council would like to clarify that this form will only allow you to apply for a postal vote for the referendum, not for the local election too. The most efficient way to apply to vote by post, for both the referendum and the local election on Thursday 5 May 2011, is to use the 'Application to vote by post' form that can be found on the city council website at www.cambridge.gov.uk/elections or requested by phoning the city council on 01223 457048. If you have previously or recently (before 31 March) applied for your postal vote by using the council's 'Application to vote by post' form then you are already able to vote by post in both the local election and referendum and there is no need to use the 'Application to vote in the referendum by post' form that you may have received. If you choose to complete and return the form 'Application to vote in the referendum by post', you will be able to vote by post for the referendum but not for the local election too. Please remember, residents must be registered to vote before 14 April. Once registered you can either apply to vote by post before 14 April or apply to vote by proxy before 21 April. If you have moved recently or know that you are not registered to vote you can download a voter registration form from www.cambridge.gov.uk/elections or request one by phoning 01223 457048. For further information about voting and eligibility you can also visit www.aboutmyvote.co.uk ends Notes for editors Cambridge City Council's chief executive Antoinette Jackson is the returning officer for the local election. The referendum is the responsibility of the Electoral Commission, under the chief counting officer, Jenny Watson. Antoinette Jackson has been appointed by Jenny Watson as local counting officer for the referendum.
